Why the world needs Jesus

Why the world needs Jesus

Why the world needs Jesus

The kids didn’t have school this morning, it was cold outside so I stayed in bed a little longer. I checked my phone and really paid attention to what is happening around us. We are in serious trouble. Our world needs Jesus.

I saw video after video of catastrophes happening all around the world. Fires completely out of control destroying everything, taking lives and making thousands of people homeless.

Hurricanes, earthquakes, mudslides, flash floods, tornados, heavy rains, droughts, etc. That is just a handful of disasters happening around the world. As sad and as devastating as these disasters are, they don’t even compare to the real catastrophe.

Last night, when the boys and I were coming home from the grocery store, a guy got really angry at me. It took me 5 seconds too long to get going after the light turned green.  It was really like 5 seconds because I moved with the car that was next to me.

The guy behind me, honked his horn 3 times and yelled at me. He was really, really mad, it was kind of scary. 😨 It took him 5 seconds to show me the ugly side of him. I couldn’t believe that someone would react that way for such an insignificant situation.

What is happening?

Sadly, we are seeing more and more people acting this way and it won’t stop because we live in evil days.

People will be selfish and love money. They will brag, be arrogant, and use abusive language. They will curse their parents, show no gratitude, have no respect for what is holy, and lack normal affection for their families. They will refuse to make peace with anyone. They will be slanderous, lack self-control, be brutal, and have no love for what is good. They will be traitors. They will be reckless and conceited. They will love pleasure rather than God.

2 Timothy 3: 1-4

That my friend is the perfect biblical description of what the real catastrophe is.  This is exactly what is happening to our world today. To the world that our children are going to inherit one day. That is the reason why our world needs Jesus.

We live in a world where everything revolves around “me”, what I need, what I want, what I feel, what is mine, and what offends me.

This love of self keeps us so focused on ourselves that we can’t see other people.

Why the world needs Jesus

Why Jesus?

Jesus is the most beautiful example we can follow. He is the complete opposite to 2 Timothy 3:1-4, (verse above).

When Jesus walked this Earth, He devoted himself to God first and then to others. He loved his Father so much that all He wanted to do was God’s will and make Him proud.

Not once the bible tells us about Jesus thinking about himself or being proud or selfish.  On the contrary, the bible tells us that Jesus preached for hours and healed all who came to him. That had to be exhausting.

The Bible tells us this about the works of Jesus: “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.”

Jesus came to this Earth to serve God first, and then to serve people. To love God by being obedient and to love people by saving them. ❤️✝️

All the works of Jesus were done for the love of God, and then for the love of people. Because one is connected to the other.

When our cup is overflowing with the love of God, love will be pouring out everywhere, all the time, for everybody, and in every situation.

Jesus didn’t act the way He did because He was the Son of God. He acted that way because His heart was so full of the love of God, that it showed in everything He did and said.

Jesus is the answer to our world. He is our great example to follow and the great news is that we can be like Him if we are willing to do the things He did:

“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”

Luke 10:17

The key is Jesus, the key is to love God first. More love, less fear, less hate, less selfishness.

We can all walk in love with one another teaching our kids to do the same so they can have a better future.

Let us follow Jesus’s example by loving one another. Not judging, not fighting, not thinking that we are always right, but instead seeing people the way that God sees them.

Let us follow Jesus example by putting God first, in our hearts, in our homes, in our schools, in our jobs and in everything we do.

Lord we thank you for loving us the way you do. We thank you for your grace and mercy, and above all, we thank you for Jesus. Help us be more like you. Help us walk in love every moment of our lives. Help us to see people the way You see them and love them the way you do. Help us forgive so we can be forgiven, and help us to know who we are in Christ. We surrender to your love. Amen
