The Power of The Blood of Jesus – What you need to know

The Power of The Blood of Jesus – What you need to know

I can’t believe I’m writing this, but sadly it’s true; People have forgotten about the power of the blood of Jesus.

You do not hear people preaching about it anymore. Only a few do it.

How could something so important to us christians be ignored?

We have replaced the message of the powerful blood of Jesus with “feel good” empty sermons.

The devil must be behind all this, he doesn’t want people to know about the blood that defeated him in calvary and rendered him powerless. He wants to keep christians like you the same way: powerless and defeated.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…

Revelations 12:11

I’m sorry to say this, but if your Pastor does not preach about the blood of Jesus, then you need to find a new church. We are living in hard times and you do not need to waste time with goofy sermons. You need the truth and the power of the gospel.

Why is the Blood of Jesus important?

For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.

1 Peter 1:18-19

It was the blood of Jesus that paid for your sin, it paid for the sin of the whole world.

His blood washed away the sin that tainted your life and kept you separated for God and on your way to hell. I love this quote from Charles Spurgeon:

Morality may keep you out of jail, but it takes the blood of Jesus Christ to keep you out of Hell.

Charles Spurgeon

The bible tells us that the payment for sin is death. That was the payment that you had to pay. But Jesus came, and with His precious blood paid the price so you and I can be saved.

Now our future is brighter, now we are called the children of God, and instead of hell, we can be sure that heaven is our home.

Understanding the power of the blood of Jesus

It is time for us to know the importance of the Blood of Jesus and how to use it.

1. The blood of Jesus was not ordinary

If Jesus’s parents would’ve been Mary and Joseph then His blood would’ve been normal human blood just like yours. But that was not the case with Jesus because Joseph was not His dad.

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.

Luke 1:35 (NIV)

Jesus’s blood not only had the human side of His mother Mary but also had the power of His Father God.

Jesus did not have an earthly father. God and man became one in the womb of Virgin Mary.

Reinhard Bonnke

That is the secret of the Power of the Blood of Jesus. Just one drop of His blood was powerful enough to pay the price for the entire human race.

In Leviticus 17:11 it was established that the life of the flesh was in the blood and only the blood can make atonement (reparation) for the soul.

That is why a lamb’s blood was used as an atonement for sin.

I don’t think there are enough lambs in the world that will pay the price of the whole human race. That was just a temporary fix.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

John 1:29 (NKJV)

Jesus was the lamb that God provided, He was the Lamb of God that was slain before the foundation of the world.

His blood was not ordinary, it was holy and powerful to pay for the sin of the entire human race, past, present and future.

2. The blood of Jesus has the power to wash away all sin

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

1 John 1:7

The Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke (one of my favorites) gave this example about the blood of Jesus, and I think it perfectly describes the power of the blood:

“If you are dirty and you have soap, you won’t be clean until you reach out and apply the soap and wash your yourself with it.

Same thing with the blood of Jesus:

It is not enough to talk about it.

It is not enough to sing about it.

It is not enough to preach about it.

You have to apply it to your sinful life in order to wash away your sins.” -Reinhard Bonnke

How do you wash or cover yourself or with the blood of Jesus?

The day that you open your heart to Jesus and accept Him as your Lord and Savior, at that same moment you recognize that Jesus died for your sin and with His blood, He washed away your sin.

The moment you invite Him in your heart, He comes and with His blood washes away the old you and now you are a new creation in Christ.

Now, If you have never opened your heart to Jesus, today is your day, don’t wait any longer, go to this post and learn: How to be saved.

3. The Blood of Jesus has the power to make you free

Do you struggle with addictions, bondages, sin, burdens, oppressions, torments?

I have good news for you!

The blood of Jesus has the power to set you free. His blood has provided for everything you will ever need, one of them is deliverance.

Don’t let the devil torment you, remind Him that you have been washed by the blood. Remember, the Bible says that we overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

Use your words to plead the blood over your life, your mind, and your circumstances.

The Blood of Jesus is a reminder to the devil that he is a defeated foe. He no longer has authority over you but you have authority over Him through the blood.

Every benefit and blessing we possess in our redemption, including complete and total victory over Satan, is based on Jesus and His triumph over Satan at the cross. We have victory over Satan because of Jesus’s shed blood.

4. The Blood of Jesus marks you

Do you remember the story of Egypt and the 10 plagues?

One of those plagues was the death of the first-born children.

God instructed the children of Israel to mark their houses with the blood of a lamb. That night when the angel of death went about killing the first-born children of Egypt, he passed over the homes of the children of Israel because their homes were marked.

That blood on the doorpost of their homes was more than a stain. It signified that the children of God were inside and the angel of death had no authority over them. They were marked by the blood.

Now you, as a born-again child or God, you are marked by the blood.

Everywhere you go, the devil can see the blood.

Everywhere you go, the blessing of God is on you, His favor is on you, His grace is with you and His angels protect you.

You are not just a person. You are a child of the Almighty God marked by the precious blood of Jesus!

5. Pleading the Blood of Jesus

God has given us a wonderful weapon to use, the Blood of Jesus. This is our weapon, our shield, our hiding place. No matter in what way the enemy comes, whether in discouragement, temptation, sickness or any other way, he is overcome by the blood of the lamb and by the word of our testimony.

Mrs. C. Neezum, The Blood and the Glory

If you have a chance to buy the book The Blood and the Glory by Billie Brim, I highly recommended. She goes in depth explaining on how to plead the blood of Jesus.

In her book, she explains that pleading the blood has nothing to do with begging or meaningless repetitions.

The blood speaks for you, it represents you just like a lawyer represents his client. The devil has no answer to the blood, he was defeated by it.

Do not limit the power of the blood of Christ to what you understand.

There is no greater mystery in the Christian life than the worth and power of His blood.

Apply it by faith. Be a child of God who practices the “sprinkling of the blood of The Lord Jesus Christ.” Sprinkle it anywhere there is evidence of pressure, tension, or any kind of satanic effort to thwart the complete will of God in your life.

God wants it for a witness, “And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood sprinkling, that speaketh better things”. (Heb 12:24)
