The Most Important Biblical Truths You Must Teach Your Kids

I am sure you know the story of the “Three Little Pigs” 🐷🐷🐷 and how they set out to build houses for themselves.

Two of the three little pigs we not very smart and they built their house🏠 out of something that didn’t last. Sadly, their houses were completely destroyed and they ended up running for their lives.

The last pig 🐷 was very smart and decided to build his house out of brick, and to build a brick house, he first needed to have a great foundation (this part is not in the book but just trust me 😉).

I’m pretty sure the smart little pig was reading the bible before he decided to build his house because when the trial came, the house stood firm and it was a refuge for the other 2 dumb little pigs.


Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, who built his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

Matthew 7:24-25

Learning the most important biblical truths to teach your kids will help you lay a great foundation for your kids to live a successful kingdom life.

Because if we don’t have a solid foundation when the storms of life come, we won’t have what it takes to stand up and not fall apart.

We live in days of false doctrines, days where being politically correct is more important than what the Word of God says.

Our kids are constantly being bombarded by all this junk. If we don’t lay down a great foundation of biblical truths they are going to end up building their house like the 2 dumb little pigs.

It is our job to lay a good foundation and to teach our kids the truth, because the truth will set them free of all the doctrines and all the junk that the world will offer them as their “truth”.

Teaching Biblical Truths to your kids

When you teach biblical truths to your kids I recommend that you bring it down to their level depending on their age.

I believe it’s never too early to talk to your kids about God. You can do it even when they are babies! 👶

Instead of grabbing a book to read them at night, grab the bible and make the stories come to life. You can even use stories like The 3 Little Pigs to teach them about the bible and about God.

Make sure you are constantly teaching these truths, remember that you want to lay a strong foundation and not a weak one.Next to each truth, I’m giving you a little description/tip or bible verse to help you explain these truths to your kids and where to find them in the bible.

The following are the most important biblical truths you must teach your kids:

1. There is only 1 God


“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.

Deuteronomy 6:4

Teach your kids that there is only 1 God. But also teach them about the Trinity. The Trinity of God means 3 in 1, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.

This can be difficult for kids to understand. The best way to teach about the Trinity is to do it with water.

If your kids are little, you can put them in a chair for them to watch you. If they are a little older they can help you with the experiments.

Grab 3 cups of water and put it in 3 different containers.

Container #1 will have the normal water. Show it to your kids and set it aside.

Container #2 will be a container that you can freeze. You are going to put the water in there and then you are going to freeze it. Show it to your kids before you put it inside the freezer. Then show them the ice that it made.

Container #3 will be a pot that you are going to put on the stove. Boil the water and show the water vapor to your kids.

So, now we have, water, ice and vapor. They are 3 different things but at the same time they are all water. They are 3 in 1. Just like the Trinity!

2. God created everything

If the Bible says that God created all things it’s because it is truth!

There are several theories about how everything came to be but the truth is that God created everything. 

Teach your kids the story of the creation and how God made everything beautiful and wonderful.


In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth

Genesis 1:1

3. God loves you unconditionally

It was God’s will to create us and He did it because He loved us from the moment He thought about us.

Let your kids know that there is nothing they can do to make God love them less. He loves them no matter what.❤️


but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

Use examples to help them understand God’s unconditional love. The strongest love kids have is their love for their parents, so use it as an example.

You can ask them: Would you stop loving me if I trip and fall?

When they say no, then you can explain how God’s love is just like that. Even when we fall, God still loves us.

4. God loves everybody

Besides teaching them that God loves them, it is also very important to teach them that God loves everybody.

God doesn’t see religions, or skin color, or what country you were born, or whether you are gay or straight. God loves people.

He loved them so much that He sent His most beautiful treasure, His son, so we can have a way to be with Him forever.


“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

5. God hates sin

Light and darkness do not mix, good and evil do not mix, and holiness and ungodliness do not mix.

Even though God loves people, He hates the sin that people do because He is holy and because He hates what sin does to us.

Sin is a violation of the laws established by God.

Sin separates us from God, brings death, curses and destruction into our life and that is not God’s will for us.


For you are not a God that has pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with you.

Psalm 5:4

6. Jesus is the son of God

When God sent Jesus to this Earth, He sent the most valuable thing He had. His most beloved treasure.

Jesus came to Earth and lived as a man. Jesus had the same temptations that we have and went through all the things that we go through. That’s why He can understand us so well.


While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!”

Matthew 17:5

7. Jesus died for us

It is important for kids to know that Jesus paid the price that we were supposed to pay. The price of sin is death.😔

But God loved us so much that He didn’t want us to die. He wanted all His babies to be with Him forever. So Jesus came and died in our place.

When Jesus died, he not only paid for our sins so we can be forgiven, he also made a way for us to be with the Father and He even carried all our sickness in His body and by His suffering we are healed! 🙌


But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5

8. Jesus was raised from the dead

Just when the devil thought that He got rid of Jesus, something wonderful happened.

In the darkness of hell, while the devil and all his demons were celebrating the death of Jesus a light brighter than the sun broke through.

This light was The Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead and gave Him the victory! Jesus is alive!😇

Turn off all the lights and close the curtains, hold your kids tight in the darkness and explain to them what happened at the moment God raised Jesus from the dead.

Then turn on a flashlight to illustrate how God’s power broke through the darkness and bring the story to life to help your kids better understand it.


The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you


Romans 8:11

9. God has a special plan for you

It is very important for kids to know that they are not here by accident. God thought of them before he formed them in their mom’s belly and He decided that He needed them.

We are all here to be a blessing to others and to fulfill the plan that God has for our lives. We are unique, so His plan for you is also unique.

We are not all called to do the same thing, some people are called to preach the gospel and some people are called to be police officers.🚓

Some are called to be doctors,😷 others soldiers, others teachers, it doesn’t matter who we are, we are all called to be a blessing and to bring glory to God in whatever it is that we do.


For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

10. The bible is truth

The Bible was written by man but The Holy Spirit of God told them what to write and it was written for our benefit, for us to know the Bible truths.


Your word is true from the beginning: and every one of your righteous judgments endures forever.

Psalm 119:160

11. What is faith?

Knowing what faith is, is one of the most important Bible truths you must teach your kids because without faith it is impossible to please God.

Faith for kids is very simple because kids believe whole heartedly in what we say and that is exactly what faith is.

Faith is believing in that which you cannot see. Faith is believing that God is who He said He is and His word is truth. That’s it! Simple!


And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

12. What is prayer and how to do it

Adults tend to complicate things. I know so many adults and kids that don’t know “how to pray”, and this is because they don’t know what prayer is.

Prayer is just talking to God, just like you talk to your parents or to your friends. That’s it! Prayer is a conversation between you and God, He listens and He talks back. We have to learn how to listen to Him.

God loves when we talk to Him. He likes when we talk about our day, our problems, when we pray for others, and when we tell Him how much we love Him. 💗He is always listening! 👂


This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

1 John 5:14

13. Jesus is the only way to Heaven

The world will tell your kids that there are many ways leading to heaven. Some may say, that just by being a good person they will go to heaven.

There are a thousand roads that lead to the same place but it’s not heaven and trust me you don’t want to go where they lead.😉

But the truth is that there is only 1 way to go to heaven, and His name is Jesus. So, in order to go to heaven we have to do it through Jesus, it doesn’t matter what anyone says.


Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

14. How can we be saved?

The only thing we need to do to be saved is to believe in our hearts and confess with our mouths that Jesus is the Son of God, who came to pay for our sins. He died and was raised from the dead, and now lives.


If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:9

15. With God all things are possible

Life is full of ups and downs. We all go through difficult situations so it is very important that our kids know that God can do all things.

The Bible is full of stories where impossible situations became possible with God. Go through some of the stories and focus on how God was able to do the impossible.

Because He can do the impossible, we must fully trust in Him.

Some of the stories you can use to teach them are:

  • Abraham and Sara conceived a baby in their old age. 👶
  • How God was with Joseph when he was sold as a slave.💕
  • Daniel in the lions den.🦁🦁🦁
  • Jona and the whale.🐳
  • Joshua and the battle of Jericho.😮
  • Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead🧑
  • Jesus feeds a multitude 🍞


Jesus said unto him, If you can believe, all things are possible to him that believes.

Mark 11:23

16. God wants you to think good things.

Our minds are powerful and the things that we meditate on will take root in our hearts.

Our thoughts determine the way we feel, whether it is happy, sad, scared, anxious, etc. Thinking good things will make us feel happier and have more peace.


Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.

Philippians 4:8

17. God wants you to love Him first

When you love someone with all your heart you never want to do anything that will hurt them or make them sad.

The same thing happens when you love God will all your heart. You are not going to want to do anything that will make Him sad.

Loving God first will help your kids live a godly life. Guide them on how to put God first in their life.


Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

18. Love one another

Jesus said that loving your brother was the second most important commandment.

When we love our brothers and sisters we will see the best in them.

God is love and if He is in us we must be love too. Plus, when we walk in love we show people the love of God.


Love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:39

19. All good things come from God

It is unbelievable the amount of Christians that miss this simple truth. This is a huge Bible truth that your kids must know.

If it kills, steals, or destroys it does not come from God.

God only gives us good things. He is a loving Father and just like you don’t want to see your kids suffer, He doesn’t want to see us suffer.

God does not put sickness or disease on people to teach them a lesson. That’s a lie from hell. Don’t believe it. God is love.

Just in case you didn’t get that, let me say it again because it is very important for you to get this in order to teach your kids the truth.

If it kills, steals, or destroys it does not come from God.


Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no ficklenss, neither shadow of turning.

James 1:17

20. Who is the devil?

You can read to your kids the story of Lucifer. How he was a beautiful angel that got into pride and decided that he wanted to be like God.

The only thing that his pride got him, was to be cast out of heaven.

Now he spends his days hating on the children of God and keeping people from being saved. He is the one that kills, steals and destroys.

His days are numbered and one day he is going to be thrown in a lake of fire.

The story of Lucifer can be found in Ezequiel 28 and Isaiah 14.

21. You will never be alone


And the LORD, he it is that does go before you; he will be with you, he will not fail you, neither forsake you: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Deuteronomy 31:8

22. God wants you to honor your parents

When we teach our kids to honor us as parents, it doesn’t only benefit us, but also helps them to live a long life.

Honoring your parents is the only commandment that has a promise attached to it.


Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise, so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth

Exodus 20:12

23. Be a giver

God is the one that gives you all things. But He doesn’t give you things for you to have more and more things. He gives to you so you can bless others.

The bible tell us that the more we give the more we will get. If God can’t get it through you He won’t give it to you.

Teach your kids to be givers, teach them to share at an early age. This will be a great blessing for them.


It is more blessed to give than to receive

Acts 20:35

24. Seed time and harvest

Why is seed time and harvest an important Bible truth that we must teach our kids?

Everything in this world is based on this important spiritual law. The sooner we teach it to our kids the better the decisions they will make.

Seed time and harvest simply means you reap what you sow. You plant tomatos, you get tomatos, you sow apples, you will reap apples.

You sow love, you will reap love, you sow hate, you will reap hate. The more you sow, the more you will reap.

This Bible truth applies to everything in life.

A good way to bring this teaching to life is to plant a tomato plant or a bean plant. Kids love these kinds of things, plant them together and watch it grow and bear fruit.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

Galatians 6:7


Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

2 Corinthians 9:6

25. Obedience

Obedience brings blessing. A great story to illustrate obedience is the story of Joseph, he was obedient to God, and even in hard times he was always blessed.


To obey is better than sacrifice

1 Samuel 15:22


“Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

Luke: 11:28

26. God forgives your sins

When kids do something they know is wrong, they carry the guilt of it, Especially Christians kids.

They need to know that we are not perfect and even in our best days we fail in some area. But God knew that when He sent Jesus to die for our sins and He still thought we were worth dying for.

God has already forgiven us of all of our sins. So we try our very best not to sin but when we do sin, we just repent, ask for forgiveness and try not to do it again.


Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

Luke 7:48

27. Words have power

God framed the worlds with His words. In Ephesians 5:1 the Bible tells us to be imitators of God just like children imitate their parents.

Some great examples of this spiritual law are:

  • When Jesus spoke to the wind and the sea.
  • When Jesus spoke to demons.
  • When Jesus spoke to the fig tree.
  • When Jesus spoke to a dead man.

Jesus was imitating his Dad. He used words because words have power.

Teach your kids how we can use words to speak life and health. Also, show them the wrong way to use our words.


Death and life are in the power of the tongue

28. Healing

Not only kids but also adults need to remember that God is the same yesterday, today and forever.

It was His will to heal people 2000 years ago and it is His will to heal people now.

29. Why should we read the Bible

Teaching our kids to read the bible is best done by example. When our kids see that the Bible is important to us they will automatically know that it is important for them to read it too. 📖

We read the Bible for the following reasons:

  • God told us to. (Joshua 1:8)
  • It keeps us from sinning. (Psalm 119:11)
  • It shows us how to live. (Psalm 119:2-3)

Grab the Bible and read it with your kids, go over all of these important Bible truths, and lay a strong foundation for their lives.

      Sadly, I think it happens to a lot of us. When I was growing up, I don’t remembered ever hearing that God loves me unconditionally. It would’ve saved me a lot of tears if I would’ve known this truth.
